Darkfire Club Update

Two more member of the Darkfire Club are finished, as I mentioned in my previous just one "regular" Member to go now and all I have left to do is finish my "Zombie Mob".

Clove is Professor Warlocks faithful Man Servant - and although advanced in years, he is strong and able - and seemingly ages no further. Taciturn in nature, he moves gracefully and steadily in the service of his Master - willing to do anything, no matter how sadistic or vile to aid him. When he does talk, its about the Noble Houses of Europe he has worked for - amongst the other Servants (who whisper in secret about Clove) there is talk of the Borgias! Could Clove really be that old . . . .

Lord Christopher Rutherford Challenger, cousin of the famous explorer Professor George Edward Challenger - is the exact opposite of his Cousin. Whereas Professor Challenger is pompous, pretentious, and self-righteous (and indignant to a ridiculous degree) but at the end of the day a decent human being - Lord Challenger is quiet, self effacing, and a seemingly humble (almost pious) Man - but behind the facade is unrelentingly cruel and evil. No act of sadism is too extreme, no deviant behaviour too disgusting. To speak to him you would think him a goodly man, and that is where you would be wrong. People who've known him all his life, insist he was born this way - and so he is a perfect recruit for the Darkfire Club.

Now it's just Quinton S. Taylor to go, the bored Rich Industrialist from Birmingham Alabama!

Kickstarter Goodies!

A mysterious package came today, but what with Hospital and getting ready for Halloween I haven't really had the time to have a proper "play" with things.

My Empire of the Dead Requiem Kickstarter "Haul" is pretty spectacular really, no mold lines that I can see, a few bits of flash here and there (but nothing major) as my good friend Brummie (Simon Quinton) is focusing on the Bobbies to begin with, I shall be tackling Nemo and Crew and an extended "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (extended as mine will include Frankenstein and his Creation AND Professor Cavor).

HOPEFULLY I will finish the last "Mortal" Member of my Darkfire Club in the next day or so, that just leaves my Zombie Mob to finish for those!

Then its onto Nemo and his Crew!

Sir Anthony King (and Friend)

In Spite of real life is still being a pain - I managed a couple of new pieces.

Sir Anthony King is the "Hunter" of the Darkfire Club, his preference to hunting at night has earned him the nick-name "Shadowking" - not only because of his night-time hunts, but because of his Dark and Ruthless Nature.

I even managed to get him a friend done (who also counts to my Zomtober painting) - another Walker to go with my Zombie Mob for EotD.

Professor Damien Warlock

Professor Damien Warlock is the President of the most infamous (throughout the British Empire in fact) branch of the Darkfire Club.

Based at the large Family estate in Berkshire, Warlock has used his family fortune (destroying his reputation in the process) in his decadent obsession with Evil, the Occult, and the Darkfire Club.

Professor Warlock is from the Gentleman's Club Boxed Set for Empire of the Dead.

Zomtober - Post One

My first "Zomtober 2013" post - two Victorian Zombies for my "Zombie Mob" for Empire of the Dead.

So here we have "Dr Jackal and Mr Snyde" - Dr Harold Jackal was a respected Surgeon by Day, but by night he financed his Gambling addiction by Grave Robbing (with his associate Mr Snyde) and selling the cadavers to Medical Students around London. One day they "crossed" the wrong people, poaching on another "businessman's" turf, and ended up as the very "product" they were selling . . . .

Dr Jackal (on the left) is from the Empire of the Dead Zombie Mob set, Mr Snyde was a West Wind Promo Zombie Miniature.

More as I finish them!

Vassily Vassilyevich

FINALLY - My painting "Mojo" has returned, and so my own Empire of the Dead "Darkfire Club" begins . . . .

Regular Member Vassily Vassilyevich is an Russian painter and Occultist, and last surviving member of the vile and corrupt Vassilyevich Family. He insists he moved to London specifically to join the Darkfire Club, and not because of the problems he had with the Authorities in Russia, over his "passions". People say a dark cloud comes over a room when Vassily Vassilyevich enters, as folk insist they can "feel" the evil that follows him . . .

The Extraordinary Adventures of Jules Verne!

Now THIS looks the business "The Extraordinary Adventures of Jules Verne"

Coming Soon I hope!

Painting Update - Clickers & Nemo

The most recent update, unfortunately not about Shipping LoL!

A couple of Clickers and a Captain Nemo.

The Clickers are a bit of a Surprise (not a bad one, just a surprise) - they look more like Terminators, I didn't expect the "Zombie Robot" look!!

The Pickman Ghoul

"There, on a tombstone of 1768 stolen from the Granary Burying Ground in Boston, sat a ghoul which was once the artist Richard Upton Pickman"
OK, it's not an EXACT representation of the Pickman Ghoul I know (as he was described as "naked and rubbery" in the story) but for me it captures the "feel" of the Character perfectly.

I Love this miniature, it clearly shows the fact he (it?) was a person once upon a time.

Not my best work (sorry) I was really ill last night, as it was likely I would be sleeping - I just plowed on through - he's come out a little greener than I would have preferred as well.

So I give you "Y'golnac the Defiler" - from Avolac Castings (

Wayland Games to Acquire Vesper-On Games

It's come to light that Wayland Games are planning to acquire Vesper-On Games - and (naturally) will be the new owners of Carnevale.

Carnevale is one of my favourite games, and I hope this bodes well - and wish Wayland every success with their future plans.

In Her Majesty's Name - New Sculpts

It's been no secret I've Not keen on a lot of the "In Her Majesty's Name" range (although I have "warmed" to them a little) but I rather like these.

Holmes, Watson, and the London Detectives and Bobbies are going to be part of the regular range - The "Master Criminal" (shown below) is not unfortunately

Oooooooooooh . . . . .. .

I think the picture says it all really . . . . . . . .

The Beldam Brotherhood

ANOTHER New Faction - Nicely Nicely!

The Bedlam Brotherhood

Those who survive the Red Death, (the disease which creates Zombies) walk the line between worlds. They see the real and the ethereal, ghosts and phantoms rise from the ashes to haunt theses unfortunate few. The Bedlam Brotherhood see the world as it is and as it will be, they have foretold the coming of the Reapers. Their task on earth is to prepare the way.

In the rat run of tunnels and cellars beneath old Bedlam Asylum the Bedlamites have built a sanctuary; do not enter this place for all you hold dear will be washed away into utter madness!

Victorian Superheroes Part II

After all the Chatter about Victorian Super Heroes - this just goes to show, West Wind are watching/listening . . . .

Mechana-bat the winged avenger! When Wayne Van Gelder’s family were taken by the Clickers for experimentation, he swore an oath of vengeance. An engineer by trade Van Gelder built an amazing flying machine which he named the Thyro-wing. Its bat winged design was based on a captured Clicker Flyder, but Van Gelder’s design was much more efficient. Now by night the hooded Van Gelder haunts the tallest spires of old London, hunting the Clicker horrors and foiling their malevolent plans.

Steam Knight

Invented by Van Gelder for his friend and ally, Hudson, a veteran of the Transvaal Rebellion of 1880. Severely wounded in this unfortunate adventure, the heroic Hudson lost his left arm. Combining an ancestral suit of medieval armour with a Clicker Tank frame and an advanced shielded Infernium engine, Van Gelder succeeded in creating the powerful fighting machine known as Steam Knight.

Victorian Cybermen . . . .

Not really no, but in a "fluff" way - yes - Presenting "The Clickers" a new Faction for Empire of the Dead . . . .

The Clickers are a race of automata that have realised a collective or hive intelligence through their exposure to Infernium. Becoming semi-sentient they have discovered the ability to self replicate and adapt their selves to various tasks. This guy is the Spider, his job is to capture humans and carry them off to the Jerusalem Iron Works for dissection (but to what ends . . . . .)

With the discovery of Infernium, it became possible to create all manner of mechanical wonders. A tiny crystal fleck would power a mighty mechanical engine for what seemed like all eternity. Machine servants became commonplace, most famously the marvelous Mechanical Man Servant engineered by the Jerusalem Iron Works established by the reclusive Professor Jerusalem.

What went wrong we don’t yet know? The great gates of Jerusalem are chained shut. The Professor has not been seen publicly for three years and yet, the mighty chimney stacks of hells own foundry still belch forth dark satanic clouds.

Nicely, Nicely - Vincent Pricely . . . .

Mr Burke and Mr Hare

Today's "Empire of the Dead - Requiem" Kickstarter Update - "Mr Burke and Mr Hare".

"Six years in the Army I don't get a scratch. Ten minutes as a grave robber I get shot in the ass" ~ William Burke
